Welcome, Little One

We’re so glad you’re here! One of the exciting things to discover in our world is BOOKS! We hope you got a Born to Read bag at the hospital after you were born. Inside the bag are your first two board books. You won’t be able to read them for awhile, but a grownup can read them to you while you look at the pictures. Enjoy your books, with love from Born to Read!
Our mission rocket illustration

Our Mission

Our mission is to support early childhood literacy through the distribution of infant books and resources throughout the St. Vrain Valley School District. Born to Read was created in 1992 by two district teachers who found that children who had been read to as babies and toddlers learned to read much more easily than those who had not. Over the past 33 years, Born to Read has provided over 50,000 tote bags in both English and Spanish to parents delivering babies at our two Longmont hospitals.

Why Reading to Babies is Important

When babies are read to from an early age and learn to enjoy books, they are more likely to become successful readers. Reading to and talking with your baby helps build a foundation for school and a lifetime of learning.

Developmental Milestones

Children reach milestones in how they play, learn, speak, act, and move. These resources can help you track your child’s progress and help in communicating with your child’s health provider.
